What is an "IT Reboot"?
In a nutshell, Bold and Busted LLC's Comprehensive IT Reboot is a process by which a customer's network architecture and systems are aligned with customer goals. Often, a customer's networks and systems are not tuned to meet organizational needs, perhaps having grown in an "organic" manner. This can create a "firefighting" situation, where a mixture of mysterious service dropouts, outages, and costly spot-repairs drain budgets and cost valuable time, without repairing underlying issues.
So, to provide better service, the customer's IT environment needs a new architecture or "rebooted". The process involves:
- Discussion with the customer regarding past IT "fires" and vendor history, and the customer's organizational missions, values and goals.
- Assessment of a customer's network or systems current operating state, and collection of details on equipment, usage, and vendors.
- Discussion with the customer on high-level goals for its IT environment.
- Creation and discussion of a quarterly or "seasonal" implementation plan, where we detail the process to meet your goals for your IT.
- Communication of progress at each major step and timely response to questions and concerns.
- Document, document, document: The customer is provided with detailed invoices with work logs, and readable, useable documentation which can be used by other vendors and IT personnel. (B&B doesn't hold customers "hostage" by withholding infrastructure information. It's YOUR organization's IT!)
- At the end of the quarter or season, a meeting is held to discuss accomplishments and the process, and set new goals for the next seasonal project.
This process does not necessarily involve the purchase of new equipment. However, it does mean that the existing equipment and software will be better utilized, and, in some cases, save the customer money on over-purchased software licenses, underutilized hardware systems, and on service vendors who have oversold their product to the customer.
